Curtain Designs
The Curtain Designs that you choose for your home can say an awful lot about your personality and how you are prepared to express it when decorating your home. However, there are many practical considerations that need to be taken into account when deciding the type of curtains to hang in your home. Therefore, in this short post we will look at some of the trends and factors that affect curtain designs.
Modern Curtain Designs
Modern curtains tend to be designed by adopting a more pragmatic approach when it comes to print, fabric, and elegance of stitching. In the modern world we need practical and machine washable drapes, because maintaining curtains really became a large (and expensive) problem with traditional curtains. Naturally enough though, curtains are made according to the overall trends of decorating and decor. The material and print from the curtains has tended to change from bold and vibrant colours to more subdued and neutral colours.
Latest Curtain Designs
Periodic prints and colour are very much in vogue in recent curtain designs. Lightweight materials such as cotton and lightweight silk are more common during the spring and summer seasons. Flowery prints have also been very popular recently and have been used boldly as the main focus of curtain patterns but also more subtly as inside prints. Geometric and abstract prints also are also great modern designs for curtains. When you choose modern designs for your curtains you are in effect able to assert how up-to-date and modern your own personality is and how you are prepared to let this be expressed in your home furnishings.

Window Curtain Designs
The selection of family room window curtain designs is going to be heavily affected because of your family’s lifestyle, and just how you utilize your family room. Quite frequently the family room is among the biggest rooms in your home and it has large home windows to complement. A sizable window provides you with the opportunity to make use of the welcoming effect of material to full advantage. You are able to achieve both a lavish and comforting effect concurrently. It is also the area which might be in constant use, throughout your day and particularly at night. So your aims might be to permit just as much light in throughout your day, whilst in the evening to possess a room having a warm and comforting effect.
If you’re just searching to create more style to some room instead of altering the particular curtains themselves an excellent idea would be to simply alter the ties and curtain rails which could really have a transforming impact on the area

Curtain Rods
One of the most critical elements to any successful curtain feature is the curtain rods. Often called upon to support ornate or heavy curtains, the curtains rods can make all the difference in the overall look and feel of curtains as well as to how effectively the function. Curtain rods are made from a variety of materials such as wood, metal and more latterly PVC and are usually comprised of 3 parts: the pole, which holds the fabric; the finials that cap off the pole; and brackets which mount the whole structure on the wall around the window.
How To Hang Curtain Rods
One of the most important considerations when hanging curtain rods is whether or not the brackets will be seen as this is quite likely to determine whether or not expensive and ornate brackets are required. After all there is little point in spending good money on poles and curtains if the overall effect is spoiled by cheap brackets. Curtain rods can also play a big part in how you wish your windows to be perceived. For example if you have a large space between the top of the window bay and the ceiling then you can fix the rods some way above the window bay to give the impression that the windows are in fact bigger than they really are. One thing to always remember though is to make sure that the rods span at least the entire width of the window and preferably beyond. Getting a multi-layered effect by hanging several sets of curtains using a number of sets of rods of decreasing lengths is a great way to make your windows look rich and luxurious as well as providing good insulation.

Shower Curtain Rods
The advent of the telescopic curtain pole has meant that in some cases (particularly shower curtains) there is no need for the finials and brackets because the pole is self-supporting between 2 opposite walls of a window bay or shower. This has been as major advance in hanging shower curtains and made the job incredibly easy. However the only down side of this method is that it can be prone to falling down at the most inappropriate moment (usually when you’re in the shower!) and for this reason many people still prefer to mount shower curtains using a u-shaped bracket at either end of the pole.
Kirsch Curtain Rods
One of the most popular and enduring makes of curtain rods is Kirsch. They manufacture a huge selection of rods and rails to suit just about every taste. Kirsch curtain rods are world famous. Formed in 1907 the company is famous for the fact that its curtain rods were used in the 1939 blockbuster film ‘Gone with the Wind’ and it has been at the leading edge of rod and rail design for over one hundred years. You can see a selection of Kirsch curtain rods here.
